When you mention distant, how far away was the subject? How much of a crop did you have to apply, if any?

I'm estimating ~100 yds or more. I asked the fellow next to me and he said, "Way too far." I haven't calculated the crop but it was a lot.

I think it is a really good shot, even more so given the conditions....

I have not tested my 85 1.8 yet. I was considering the RF 85 f2. I think I'll wait a little longer. It's not like I do portraits anyways. He was my only willing participant...LOL

I absolutely LOVE the RF 85mm f/2! It’s been my most used lens on my R6 but I also don’t shoot portraits that much, I mainly do still life. I find the rendering on this lens to be really nice though.

Hello everyone I have both Canon TC version 2 and there is this feeling of me telling me to upgrade to version 3 lol to pair for my R6. Anyone tried them both? Is it worth to upgrade? Mainly to be pair up with my EF600mm II and R6. Thanks.

If you have the 600mm II then there is good reason to upgrade for use with a DSLR, as superior AF performance may be "unlocked"
That said, I do not have any concrete evidence that this is the case with the R bodies.

Are there any noticeable difference in image quality and sharpness between the different canon extenders?

If the only upgrades are AF and the r bodies don't need it, I could save some money buying a ii instead of a iii.

But from looking at them the used prices aren't that far apart anymore.

Ever changing.

No way could I justify the cost of the RF 85mm f/1.2L, but did want an 85mm prime. Looked at the Canon f/2, but ended up going with the Samyang RF 85mm f/1.4 AF when Amazon had it on sale for $597. Very happy with it, though haven’t had much chance to use it given the season. The extra stop of aperture does more for me than the macro of the Canon f/2

I actually owned the Samyang RF 85mm when I was shooting E mount but ended up selling it for the Sigma 85mm DN Art. I feel that when Sigma release it on RF Mount, I could see myself owning both the RF 85mm and the Art since they both excel in the different areas.

Not that I can see, but maybe with the 2X?
There have actually been conflicting comparisons,. some put the 1.4x II sharper than the III in the center, but the III much better at the edges, etc.

So, I could not resist and bought the R6 (with RF24-105 STM & RF35 1.8)
Below is my old setup Vs the new (80D Vs R6)
It is ~200 grams lighter (I like it) but it does not have the top LCD (no big deal) and does not have the 4 top buttons I really like (and miss) – but a bit of new muscle memory and some setup and I am happy
Once I review the images with lightroom I was blown away – what a great sensor (and of course full frame vs crop – also makes a difference)
The RF 35 1.8 is a gem! – Now I am waiting for the EF/RF adapter and would like to try it with my 70-300L and 150-600 Sigma
I wish some one will make EF/RF Adapter/TeleConv in one piece – I think it easily doable and will sell well
