The R6 + R100-500 is becoming a favorite combo. Though I love the 100-400, the 100-500 is lighter and the extra 100mm comes in handy. The Barred Owl was close enough (~20') and big enough that I was able to manage at 1/20 handholding.

Jun 29, 2021 13:51 | #2733 End Of Watch funeral procession for fallen Arvada Colorado Officer Gordon Beesley. Not the "usual" type of images in this but thought I'd share. The R6 did a great job tracking, and although shooting conditions were extremely tough shooting right into the eastern sky early in the morning, and complicated that I grabbed the incorrect smaller polarizer leaving the house, I'm satisfied with how the images were still easy to work with. Jun 29, 2021 16:09 | #2735 Image preview and culling process help sought. I have a R6 and have found that using electronic shutter in servo mode when shooting wildlife has been fantastic. I've shot bears, herons, coyotes, a red wolf, deer, and a variety of average yard birds without seeing the slightest flinch in behavior I used to see when shooting my 1DX as it clicked away. However, at 20 FPS I have lots of images to cull through for keepers and find it a bit cumbersome to load them into Lightroom Classic (LRC) and pick through them. I've heard that Photo Mechanic allows you to preview and zoom in on raw files to pick/select the ones you want to import into LRC. I was wondering what folks might use to preview images and/or what workflow changes you may have made after using the R5/R6? 5DIII, 6D, 7D2, 5DMKIV,1DMK4,EOS-M,1DX

I'll post a duplicate message on the R5 thread to maximize outreach. Woody I use Canon's Digital Photo Professional for this task. I use it to delete the ones I don't want and then import the remainder into LRC. Image editing ok; C&C always welcome.

I use DxO Photolabs for my initial processing before importing into Affinity Photo, but like you say, 20 frames per second soon builds up a lot of images. What I like about Faststone is that it is very quick. Little waiting around for your images to show and you get a large preview so can quickly get rid of images you don’t want. http://www.frankandersonphotography.com

I'll try the DPP first since I already have it loaded and then maybe FastStone. Went out for a bit yesterday and shot a little over 1200 frames at birds and bears. Unfortunately they were mostly too far away or it was waaayy too dark, but I was trying to workout an Error 70 issue I've been having. Yesterday I left my Lexar SD cards home and took some new ProGrade cards. No issues. Not sure if its because I only shot 1200 or so images or if the cards were the issue. I did shoot a great deal with the 800 mm f11 trying something different and then switched back to the 600 F4+1.4X. Time will tell. Thanks again, Woody I would also recommend Faststone. I do wish Canon would do a firmware upgrade (if possible) that gives the option of a lower frame rate on electronic. Usually I just need the silent shutter and not the high frame rate. 5DIII, 6D, 7D2, 5DMKIV,1DMK4,EOS-M,1DX
