The NZ native Takahe is far less well-known - essentially because it is very rare - there are just 360 left in the world and are obviously considered critically endangered. Large efforts are on-going to breed young in predator-proof locations (there is one on an island in Auckland's Hauraki Gulf) and transfer adults to repopulate their native habitats. It's a beautiful animal. I wouldn't try to approach them tough. Unfortunately, they are often killed illegally where I live. This one lives in a little alpine zoo near my place. He's pretty shy but last week we were alone for a moment and he was looking for food. We had a great time with him. LOL, no, I should have emphasized "looks" as he is no house kitty! Apr 23, 2023 11:20 | #4319 It had been many (cough cough, 40, cough cough) years since I'd been to Arlington Nat'l Cemetery, so this being one of the stops on our daughter's middle school trip was special. I was probably one of a handful of people with an SLR type camera amongst a sea of cell phones. I was a bit out of practice having barely picked up the camera in the last 6 months, so there were some user error missed shots. I shot the entire time at Arlington with the RF 70-200 f/4, and it did not disappoint. ![]() ![]() I ran back after the crowds cleared for a more intimate shot of the Tomb of the Unknown IMAGE LINK: https://ct1co2.smugmug.com …2023/n-hnmnxz/i-WQhS4K8/A ![]() Eternal FlameIMAGE LINK: https://ct1co2.smugmug.com …2023/n-hnmnxz/i-NK2c4pV/A ![]() ![]() R6 | R7 | 15-85is | Rokinon 14 2.8 | RF 16 2.8 | 16-35 F4is L | RF 24-105 F4is L | RF 70-200 F4is L | 100-400 II L | Σ150-600 C | 1.4X III | 2X III | 430ex |
