I like to mount my EOS70D to a Stabilizer, put that on the end of an extension pole and shoot down. The problem with that is that I can't see what the camera sees up there. I just have to shoot wide and hope for the best.

There as an "A/V OUT" port on the camera so I wondered if that could be used to get the signal to my phone, so I could use it as a monitor.

I would really appreciate any suggestions because I really like the range the extension gives me. If I could see what the camera sees up there I'd be stocked!

Has the camera got WiFi? Because the best bet would be to use the Canon remote control software to control the camera. I believe that there are ways to do this over USB, but I think that works best when you are using a PC for remote control.

Thanks,

Yes, the D70 does have WiFi but I haven't considered that option, thinking, unlike BT, I'd need access to WiFi; not always available in the field, for that to be an option. But I'll look into it

A word of caution to OP. As was shown with the Eye-Fi SD card wifi product, merely having 'wifi capability' does not mean that the devices can communicate in the absence of a wireless access point (WAP). The EyeFi needed a WAP and ethernet connection to the PC and could not function camera-to-PC in absence of a router or WAP.
