Looking for some tips on lighting a rodeo arena. I do normally ok with lighting arenas where I know the direction of all the events. I have an upcoming event that is in an indoor rodeo arena The event is not a rodeo but equine related. As of this time I have no idea the movement or use of the arena in the 6 different event. I need to be able to light it some what evenly with out moving lights. For strobes I have 1 AB 800, 2 AB 1600, 2 Whit lighting 1600 and 1 White lighting 3200. I have stand reflectors and long throw reflectors for each. I hope this is enough information.

What color is the ceiling? How far up is it? My suggestion wold be to bounce all of your lights off the ceiling. The other issue is your shutter is going to be 1/250th or less, so motion blur will likely be an issue.

Thank you I was thinking about that. I was thinking of spacing lights out around 2 sides of the arena pointing at the ceiling with long throw reflectors. It’s probably a dust color.

As what was previously mentioned, I'd look into shooting multiple heads up into the ceiling and have a uniform exposure. I've mounted heads with Super clamps to pillars and shot nearly with open with 70-200/2.8 and 300/2.8 and adjusted shutter speed to my liking.
