I’m positively loving the RF system. The zoom lenses are fantastic and there are already a lot of great choices. I feel like there are a few basic lenses that I would like to see them fill in sooner than later. I’d like to see a 24mm prime, maybe a 35L, and a 100 Macro. I’m thinking about the 35 and 85 Macro’s. I am still using the EF 85L II and yesterday I stuck it on my R5 and quickly realized the difference with the RF lenses.

So what would you like to see soon?

A series of pancake lenses... 24mm f/2.0 would be a good start.

Agreed, all the standard focal lengths and slower F2.8 speeds are not even special here, they're common and will or do already exist. The lenses I'm hoping to see in the mature RF line up are more wide angle, short, fast lenses. Like a 28mm F2, 24mm F2, etc. But absolutely would love to see a sharp pancake that is short, and F2 fast.

Very best,

This!

I am a Architecture/ RE photographer and don't need a fast wide angle.
For now I use the 16-35/4.0 and it's by far my most used lens. It's nearly perfect for what I do.
If Canon can make a RF version which is at least equal in IQ (maybe a little less distortion) it would probably be my new lens and system.

I am not a big fan of the 15-35. It is crazy big, it extends and there is a lot of vignitting.
Canon need to make a smaller, slower, internal zooming but weathersealed wide angle lens. I don't really need IS.

Maybe extend the range a litte. RF15-40/4.0L for about €1000,- that would be sick.

Oh and I would also like to see:

It would be nice to have a low cost, small, light trio. They are almost there with the 35 and 85 Macros. I have the 50L already. It pains me to say, but I'm tempted to sell my EF85LII, but it gives me my 135 on my M6m2. It was also a 40th birthday present from my wife. I may just keep it for that purpose and get the 85 Macro for the RF.

How about a re-working of the 50mm f1.4?

I like the pancake idea too

For birding a 200/600 f 6.3 like the Sony would be about perfect on the A5 .

Rob.

That is a tough one. I coveted the Nikon 500 5.6 PF but now with the RF 100-500 I don't know. I just got my RF 1.4 yesterday so 700mm is pretty respectable. R5's 45mp will give me more crop power as well.

As for the 100-500 7.1 is a tad slow but with my shooting style should be fine. Now I'm sure I'd be that interested if Canon released a 500 5.6. I'm thinking about the 800 DO.

I guess the next Level is the 600 F4 but I won't have $14,000 unless I win a lottery. I read there may be patents out for a 200-600 or 200-700.

I really like my RF 24-105. I wish they could invent a 14mm pancake lens.

100-500 and 1.4. I could have lowered the shutter but I will take more advantage of that with IBIS when I get my R5 which I should get at the end of the month.

I used my 100-400 II and 24-70 2.8 II 90% of the time. I'm now a two lens owner and it may stay like this for a while.

I'm hoping for the RF 100-500 to be under my Christmas tree this year.

It better be a DO, otherwise, it needs to come with a wheeled push cart accessory.

If I don't get the shots I want with the gear I have, the only optics I need to examine is the mirror on the bathroom wall. The root cause will be there.
