I had two questions about these 2 lenses. If anyone has experience with both of them.

First is the f-stop.....

I am reading online the Sigma is f/5.6 until zoomed to exactly 387mm than become f/6.3 from there. And the Tamron G2 stays at f/5.6 all the way up until 427mm.

And second, is the minimum focusing distances......

The Sigma is 9.1 feet (2.7 meters) and the Tamron is 7.1 feet (2.1 meters)

So just want to know if this is 100% accurate and confirmed, and if from your experience think these 2 things are worth the extra few hundred dollars for the Tamron G2 version?

Thanks for your time in advance it is always appreciated.

I doubt any of that is 100% accurate. The minimum focus distance probably is. I have owned all the models of the 150-600mm super zooms. I currently shoot with the Siggy S model. I love it but it isn't for everybody.

Is the G2 worth the extra bucks? I would say, yes, if you want to last bit of IQ possible as I believe it is the sharpest of the bunch.
However, I see very little difference between any of them. Real world shooting does it matter? Probably does the the pixel peepers.
So, in that case maybe not worth the extra bucks, your decision.

It has been my experience and observation that any variable aperture zoom lens, including the super 150-600mm super zooms, begins to fall off its most open aperture at 151mm. The lens lies to the camera about the f-stop so they will still AF.

I just last week switched from Tamron to the Sigma Contemporary, and I find the Sigma sharper, and easier to handle for some reason (I'm a small 5' woman, if it matters). I don't know if I got a lemon in the Tamron for comparison purposes, but the build seems better in the Sigma as well. I like the quality of the images much more than the Tamron - they're brighter, more vivid, and the AF locks much better as well. The Tamron files are - muddier - is the only word I can think of. And yes, I'm a pixel peeper.

As to the Mfd, I haven't found that difference to be worth money to me. I'm loving the Sigma.
