I know there is an adapter but... Will the mirrorless camera body lens mount be okay ( not bend or deform) with somewhat heavy lenses ? This is compared compared to larger maybe tougher traditional mirrored camera bodies?

Even the mounts for the little SL1/2/3 series can handle lenses like that. If you aren't supporting the heavier lenses with your left hand, you aren't holding your gear properly anyways. I'm also new to owning and carrying somewhat heavier lenses. I really enjoy my Tamron 24-70 and Tamron 150-600 lenses even if they are a tiny bit heavier than my older 1990's eos lenses. A camera rental website said they occasionally sell a camera body after a customer rents a large telephoto lens. Is using camera lens combo upside using a tripod collar ring and screwed in peak design camera strap mount attached to the tripod collar okay? I still support the lens body using my palm of hand as extra safety precaution and to take weight off the lens collar and my neck. lol. I think I will someday get a big think tank zoom bag.

Why would there be a difference? The mount itself (that steel ring) hasn't changed in diameter or thickness. It's still screwed into a magnesium frame. Are the screw lengths different? Or is the number of screws different? TANSTAAFL--The Only Unbreakable Rule in Photography

To give you some peace, I have hung the same lenses on my Rebel SL2 that I had on my bigger bodies, which means the 150-600, etc have all been on my baby rebel body with no issues. If you think about it, the weak point may actually be on the lens mount itself with just 3 screws that keeps that mount ring attached to the lens. I've seen lens bodies ripped from their mounts. Sep 14, 2020 16:27 | #7 I've used the 100-400V2 & Sigma 150-600C on my M50 with the Canon adapter, and had no problems. When walking around, I am carrying the Sigma by the tripod foot. When shooting hand held, I am supporting it with my left hand. That little M50 is like a tick on a dog with those lenses, it is so tiny and just along for the ride. Past Equipment | My Personal Gallery
