Higgins boat

Not many of these left anymore. I believe two still remaining. This one in Wyoming of all places.

Wow, I had no idea that these were made of wood!

They were built here in New Orleans at the largest motor boat plant under one roof in the world. After the war my grandparents leased the property for their rattan furniture manufacturing business and as a kid I spent many hours in those enormous interior spaces. It had a kinda magical feel. Even as a young boy, without knowing anything about the history, I felt something special had happened there. But it's all been torn down and replaced by Delgado community college.
