Heya,

VPN is a way to gain access to networks that are otherwise blocked in your geographic or networking location, or a way to not be someone else's product. That's the public commercial utilization at least.

As others mentioned above, get off the big public data networks, the "free" stuff isn't free, you sell "you" as the product to use it free and they use your data and habits to sell, sell, sell. So namely, get off any Google based service and social media.

There are tons of VPNs out there if you're just trying to get access to networks across the globe where there are blocks (like in Asia).

Very best,

I use Proton, to not use a VPN is silly the way companies are stealing and selling your data. I trust the Swiss won't sell me out. I also use proton mail.

- Note, I "used" to be that guy who said I have nothing to hide.

I still find it funny that the folks using VPN's to "hide" seem to have a concept that none of their activity is being logged.

some fairly old canon camera stuff, canon lenses, Manfrotto "thingy", and an M5, also an M6 that has had a 720nm filter bolted onto the sensor:

I've been using Private Internet Access for years and they're great. It is true some VPN providers do keep logs but PIA have been proven to not keep any.

I also use Private Internet Access specifically because they do not keep logs.
