We have an Aussie bird thread, but for a while pined for more Australian Wrens.
I know there's a lot of beautiful ones, not just the one type we I have here.
(pardon my lack of terminology)!

Hoping others will fly by with some other beauties.
It's not about photo excellence, not discouraging that, but seeing what many don't get to appreciate.

Here's a couple to get started, and I've only Superb Fairy Wrens

Great idea.

There are so many varieties and so many colour schemes, no to mention those in transition to full breeding plumage.

Here's Mr & Mrs White Winged Fairy Wren.

Gorgeous. Thanks for contributing.
These are really nice. Photos & wrens

They certainly display similar characters to ours which is, I suppose, to be expected.

My pleasure.

We also have Splendid Fairy Wrens here and the occasional Variegated Fairy Wren if you're lucky...

Anyone got tips on getting good wren photos? They are so small and so fast and love hiding in dense bushes. Just a matter of patience?

I don't think I posted this one anywhere yet.

Cheers Dennis. I still get excited every time I see one of these little birds, there's a special something about them.

A heap of atience and a pinch of luck (or even the other way around...) and listen out for their calls, they're quite distinctive.

Agree on the patience, unfortunately :-(.

Depends on locality for me. Here they're used to my presence and I can mix it with the wildlife whilst they frolic.

I've not got good shots in bright sun though.
Our male Superb (your photo) is difficult, for me, to bring out the colours.
Their very dark front isn't black but easily looks that way.

Some of the best photos I've got have been in good, bright even light, even overcast.

It's also good to learn their habits.
At times they are twitchy, flighty little blighters, then others are cuddly and sit about like oldies relaxing together or in singles.
That's when you can observe and grab some decent photos. Well that's the theory :-P

Do you have them at your place?
