Looking to upgrade to the 5DIV. Little late to the dance as it looked like there were some good pricing back in July. Does Canon or any of the other online vendors generally do any Black Friday/Cyber Monday or even Christmas sales towards the end of the year that would be worth holding out waiting to purchase? I just don't see enough of a spread between used and new to make me go the used route. Thanks!

Be sure and check out the refurbished equipment at Canon. Like-new equipment, same warranty as new equipment, and some refurb equipment goes on sale from time to time. Inventory fluctuates. I’ve always been pleased with the refurb lenses that I’ve bought there. You can save some cash with the refurbs. I just thought I’d mention it.

Best wishes with your camera purchase!

Ed

I'm not sure how Canon decides to offer discounts and sales. I never marked the calendar every time they have a sale.
It hard to say if a sale will be older camera models or newer mirrorless ones or both.
I read deep into the technical data, looked at camera comparisons and read many reviews. I sort of wanted the 50MP 5 DS but not for $3499
I registered the 5,D IV camera. Then I called Canon and they added a 4 year care pack warranty for $249
Good luck.

The manufacturers always run sales during the Christmas shopping season.
