Thanks. It is a nice lens, but you might want to go for the 1.4x TC first. Check out Axel Hildebrandt's stuff on pbase.com. I think he shoots with the 75-300 and the 1.4x teleconverter. Great stuff! http://www.pbase.com/axelhi (external link)

beautiful shot! don't you just love this lens. ISO 800, wow, I really need to stop being scared to raise the ISO for faster shutter speeds.

"and 1.4TC on a monopod at 560mm, ISO 800, 1/500s" For some reason I thought that didn't work well with this lens...You pic shows that's not the case...think I know what my next camera purchase will be!

I am just starting to get the hang of this lens and I find shooting at 800 does very well, but have been shooting alot after work and you know what the lights been like around here lately.

Thanks everyone. I'm starting to get more comfortable with the lens. For awhile there I thought the focus was off. Be aware that you lose autofocus when using the TC. Turned out to be me, of course. Too slow shutter for the monopod, let alone handheld.

It's tough to get the shutter speed necessary when it's cloudy all the time. I'm really looking forward to Spring and Summer.
