I started my BIF adventures at Lincoln Woods State Park in RI. It is what I would call a lake. I knew the couple of islands in it were quite a ways from where I had to set up and sit, but until I downloaded google earth I didn't realize how far. They are 400 yards away and the far shore twice that. Since that time I have found 4 ponds in and around my town where I have found set up positions depending on the time of day and sun direction, two are 200 yards to the far shore and two others about 300 yards to the far shore with no way to get closer. Being handicapped I set up where I can get access.
There is no real point to this post just saying that I enjoy BIF even if the places I have found to shoot so far are not the best, but I have gotten an Eagle, Falcon, hawks, cormorants, ducks and of course tons of Canada Geese! There is a lake nearby where there are some eagles but the only position is in a tree surrounded parking lot at the north edge of the pond shooting into the sun most of the day. There is a sportsman's club at the NW corner that I used to belong to and while their parking lot says no treaspassing I may see if I can get access, haven't seen anything there but may try it and see if anything shows up. problem is I MAY see something there but at my other ponds I WILL see something...
