I have a Tokina 12-28mm F4 lens that I bought new six years ago. I don't use it a lot. The very first time I replaced the lens cap it scuffed the glass right in the middle of the lens. Doesn't look scratched, but it doesn't rub off either. I'm guessing it was just the lens coating that was damaged. Has anyone else had this problem and has it affected your photos?

The front element of that lens does not stick beyond the frontal area so you must have inadvertently hit the element. Since anything there would be out of focus I would just live with it. That was a $600 (list) lens back in 2013 but you can get a refurb from Tokina (Canon mount) for $300 should you want to pursue that option.

Wow sorry to hear about that. I heard that their lenses are pretty good for the money.
I don't feel so bad about paying $120.00 for a protective filter.

Try lens cleaning solution and lens paper. Took my scuff right off.

Been trying that off and on for six years, lol. You have to be very careful putting the lens cap on if the hood is on too or it will hit every time. Looking back I probably could have returned it right away but I think that option is long gone now!
