Question on Focus Peaking

My Canon 90D has focus peaking which I use when taking my moon photos with my Sigma 150-600C Lens. Works GREAT! I just used it last night for a moon shot.

I just tried it inside the house with my Canon 18-135mm lens, but I could not get it to work at all. I was using the LCD screen on the back, had my lens set to MF rotating ring back and forth slowly but did not see the beads of light anywhere in the picture. It did not matter if I was at 18mm or 135mm or anywhere in between. Yes I did see the focus changing, but not the focus peaking.

Also I was trying to find where in the menu to change the color of the peaking, but I also did not find that.

Again I used this feature last night, I have not made any changes to my camera body settings.

Thank you John for this. I know I have seen this page on my phone in the past to get Focus Peaking to work at all.

This is what I see today. What setting do I have set wrong? I checked, the dial was on M so I changed it to P with no difference.

Do you get the same menu options when you put a different lens on the camera?

Can't say for a 90D, but the M5 focus peaking is quite pronounced & really useful, but suspect it'll only work in liveview on a dslr...

Good idea! I put the Sigma 150-600C back on, which of course is what I use for the moon, and the focus peaking DOES work, but yes I get the same option window as shown in the photo above.

When I took the photo above I had the Canon 18-135mm lens mounted to the camera body.

Yes I was looking at Live View. Only in the mirrorless body cameras will you see the the beads of light when looking thru the view finder is my understanding.

Sorry I did not get back to this sooner...

My menus match what is in the from the PDF manual for pages 194 and 197 that you show above when in view finder mode and also in Live View mode

So, that still does not help me figure out my initial problem of why I do not see the blinking lights with a different lens at the top of this thread.

I would like more help on this please!
