CGX Mount, Explore Scientific ED127mm APO refractor with .7x reducer/field flattener
ZWO ASI1600mm camera, Baader 7nm Ha filter
90 x 60 second exposures
Bortle 8 skies with an 82% illuminated moon phase. 10/26/2020
Processed entirely with Astro Pixel Processor.

I'm hoping to gather SII and OIII data tonight to make this a color image.

Am I seeing faint gases around the main nebula? If so, getting color into the image should almost double its size!!! Nice work!!!

Oh yeah, there is quite a bit of gas outside the main nebula area. If you look up M27 on www.astrobin.com (external link) you'll see there's a ton more faint detail there. Hard to bring out the really faint stuff though from my light-polluted, nearly full moon backyard. Hopefully a couple more hours with the other filters tonight will bring out a bit of it. But my processing skills need help too.
Thanks for checking it out.

I'm looking forward to your version of M27. I went to Astrobin and looked around some. I actually have an account there from back in 2013. Some really eye-popping images there! I hope you have/had clear skies tonight. Looks like Hurricane Zeta is getting closer and south Alabama is getting some moisture form the approaching storm in the Gulf of Mexico. Wednesday night and Thursday we're supposed to have tropical storm conditions but clearing towards the weekend.

Good luck with Zeta.
I'm from Louisiana and still have family there. My parents home was hit hard by Laura and a bit by Delta. The gulf region just ain't catching a break this season.
This was my last go at M27 last year. I hope my processing techniques have improved some. And I think the new subframes are in better focus.

85 x 60second Ha
45 x 90second OIII
40 x 120second SII

Processed with Astro Pixel Processor
CGX Mount, ED127mm with reducer, ZWO 1600mm, Baader Filters

Too much light pollution and moonlight to bring out the fainter outer gasses.

Yes, the gulf coast has been a magnet this year for storms and Louisiana seems to have a bullseye on it. We have a family from Louisiana who hav family still in the western part of the state and they’re still recovering and will be for a while. It looks like Zeta is going to be a fast hurricane that sustains hurricane speed wind gusts far inland. Hopefully it will weaken quicker than what they’re talking about.

You’re way over my head with the technology but I love your results. I’m on my phone right now but will check the images out on the computer later for a better view!

Speaking of technology, I’ve got an old Parks 6” Newtonian reflector on a non-motorized equatorial stand. I think I calculated it to between an f/7 and an f/8. Bought it years ago but never utilized it much....viewed the moon, Orion Nebula, and that’s about it. I’ve gotten a t-ring and adapter and plan on trying to get some planet shots and maybe some DSOs but not expecting Sky and Telescope quality images using “nudge tracking”. :-D. I’m Really just wanting to get the 6” to where I might can sho my granddaughters Jupiter and Saturn...I saw Saturn years ago in a telescope and suddenly it caused an awareness in me that the planets and DSOs were really in the sky above me and not just pictures in books or on the computer. It was kind of my “astronomical epiphany”, if you will. I want my granddaughters to experience that, too. :-)

I totally understand the "epiphany" part of your story. I experienced the same thing at age 11, some 44 years ago, and I've been hooked ever since.
