How could I edit this skin tone variance

The mom's arm that she is leaning on is much darker on the bottom than the top. I've tried replacing color, and editing color with masking the rest of the picture with little success. Any tips would be very appreciated!

One way is to make a selection of her arm that is darker. Once you have the selection, sample an area of her arm and clone over it at a reduced opacity until you are happy with the results. Your photo was a very low resolution so your attempt will be much better.

Thanks, that's what I ended up doing but yours looks much better. I'll keep working at it! I appreciate your help! Did you use the quick selection tool?
