2 weeks ago I bought a Canon TR8520 printer. I had trouble setting it up so I called the Canon Tech number 800-652-2666 and I got great tech help to get it running. Today I try printing, and the printer is "off line" even though yes the power light is on.

I call the help line, which is an automated line, I have to in the beginning say "Technical Support" then I have to tell them the product name so I say "Canon TR8520" then the automated voice tells me to locate the model number, which is TR8520 but I am no longer allowed to say anything. She tells me (paraphrased) find the model number, then call back, then she says a lot more before stopping. If I say anything now I get no response. I have to hang up.

If I call again then of course I have to go thru the same thing. I wish I knew what I did 2 weeks ago to get thru so well. Yes 2 weeks ago I was put on hold for a few minutes, but I was put thru!

Any suggestions as to how to get help without going thru online chat which would be so much slower?

Thank you for any suggestions!

My first real camera was a Canon F1. That was a long time ago.

Can't help with Canon tech help, but do have a background in I.T. for a number of years (too many) so might be some help
Can you let us know how you're connecting to the printer? seems to be a variety of methods from Wifi, to Ethernet & USB cable.
Printer could be "offline" if the network it was previously using, is not connected (or could just be low on paper)

some fairly old canon camera stuff, canon lenses, Manfrotto "thingy", and an M5, also an M6 that has had a 720nm filter bolted onto the sensor:

L'Inspecteur! How did it go with the printer? Please let us know if it worked or if you still need help. :-)
Cheers

I leave my computer on 24/7, but about once a week after being not used for a few hours, it will not come back to life, moving the joystick around or tapping on the keyboard so I have to force the computer off by holding the power button down, then turning the computer back on. I had to do that a little bit ago.

Guess what?!?! The printer started working! It just needed a reboot!

Thank you everyone for trying to help me with your fine suggestions!
