I have not been using this lens in a while. I grabbed it today, and found the main body very sticky. My fingers became black. The rubber/plastic appears to be melting away. Has anyone had this issue? Any solution found? Thanks in advance!

I had a similar "sticky grip" problem with my EOS A2 film camera. I just used 91% isopropyl alcohol and kept rubbing and cleaning until it was all gone. The grip looks kind of shiny now, and it only feels slightly less grippy. It really doesn't feel much different than my EOS 5 and EOS 7NE, where the grip still has the original "Rubberized" surface.

If the lens still works everything should be fine with a little effort and parts.
Just take your time and take a break if needed. Try to avoid getting old rubber particles into the moving parts and try to get quality parts.
I would call Canon parts first. As I don't know anything about the ebay sellers.
Putting this into ebay search pulled up a few listings. New Lens Grip Rubber For Canon EF 85mm f/1.2L Focus Ring Repair Replacement Part.
The clean up is all done by hand and there are no short cuts.
Work the old rubber away from any grooves or slots where lens parts move.
Its been awhile. I peeled the camera body grip off and dampened Q Tips and paper towels with strong isopropyl alcohol.
A time saver. When the Q Tip or paper towel becomes filled with gummy rubber use a fresh clean Q Tip, paper towel or toss it.
When there is no black or grey on the paper towel its clean enough for a new grip. You must reach clean base material for proper adhesion.
It took some effort to get it all about 30 minutes.
If the project requires any adhesive at all.
Make sure the adhesive can easily be removed later or you will have a big mess to deal with later. (Some glues become dry and brittle may even require scraping)
Also wear gloves and be sure the surface is 100% free of any skin oils.
The oil or acid in my skin years ago ruined magazine print making the print smear.
Now I wash my hands with lotion free soap before handling certain items.
I would be very careful to avoid anything too strong that may melt the plastic or gaskets and electronics.
Someone mentioned that certain insect sprays can do that. Hand lotions depending on the ingredients may or may not break down the rubber too.

It worked! I used isopropanol (from the lab) and a cloth. Rub slowly, several times until it was all gone. Exactly as you said. Thanks very much!
