Anyone got their kid started using a book or 2 that they could recommend? I have a fairly intelligent 9 year old girl who wants to get into photography. We have done a few 30 minute sessions but she is essentially at the beginning. So looking for a book that might be aimed at 9-12 year olds that teaches them the basics in a fun and engaging way - likely through exercises as opposed to read about them - such as -

1. general composition - what makes a good photo
2. importance of lighting
3. subject vs background
4. all the basic functions of a lens and camera
5. use of a flash
6. shutter speed vs subject movement

Basically a 101 in photography. There doesnt seem to be too much around following a quick search on amazon. I am looking for something that she can take away to another room, read, perhaps do a few exercises, come to me to ask some questions/show her work off. Does need to be 100% self taught be cant be 75% me taught otherwise I may as well do the whole lot myself. Not interested in the history of photograpy, the physics of how a sensor or lens work (like some books for kids seem to think is important).

She will be using a Canon if that makes any difference.

cheers

My experience is that the YouTube learning environment can be very effective for this generation.
