I'm trying to find a tripod that will me to photograph straight down. Manfrotto makes one but it's out of stock everywhere and it seems like tripods are in short supply generally. The tripod I liked was the Befree GT XPRO Carbon Tripod. Expensive but it would have worked nicely.

Advice, suggestions or opinions?

thanks
RD

Heres one alternative and cheaper than a new tripod.
There are several horizontal booms or columns like this and they should do the trick.

They told me the 405 tripod head will arrive late June or July 2021

There has been a worldwide backup of finished goods and raw materials shipments via cargo vessel, in addition to the further delays in shipping caused recently by blockage of the Suez Canal by a grounded cargo ship until yesterday.
Increases in production and sales have been caused by peaks of demand in recent months, due to bottled up deman from COVID, and ships stack up at anchor and cannot get into port to be offloaded. And so goods cannot trucked to final destinations...all that causing a shortage of empty containers so goods cannot be put into containers for transport and loaded onto ships. Big logjam and no end in sight.

I was basically told the same thing about the Epson V600 scanner, even Epson didn't have it in stock. Everything slowed down or stopped completely during the peak of the pandemic & now companies are struggling to keep up with production. I found one in a 150 mile radius, luckily it was only 30 minutes away & not a place you'd normally think of them carrying it, which is probably why I found one.

You might try a smaller camera store. A few years ago I could not find a Lee square filter system. I could find everything except the mount for 77mm. Finally contacted a small camera shop outside Philly, they had 10 in stock when it seemed no one else in the world had it.

I called them and she said June-July 2021
I had not chosen anything specific yet.
I chose a very nice Sirui SR-3004 tripod.
Purchased optional center column SR-66C and Sirui K-40X ball head.
Its very stable and outdoor wind doesn't seem to bother it.
