The added contrast definately brings out more detail in the foreground. The clouds, especially the one on the left, looks really different and..wispy. It looks great! Are there any ways that the detail in the shadows of the buildings can be kept?

Well you could edit back the details on the side of the buildings - but the problem is that they would look mis-matched with the rest of the image. SAY NO TO SPEC WORK!
