When your shooting portraits, family sessions, engagements, what mode do you normally shoot in?

If I did any of that I’d probably use AV. That’s what I mostly use on the stuff I do photograph.

AV because I'm mostly interested in controlling depth of field. However, I do admit that sometimes I get motion blur, especially in low light action shots.

Always AV mode, mostly to control DOF. For aircraft in flight Tv, to capture propeller blur and background blur when panning.

When you see my camera gear you'll think I'm a pro.
When you see my photos you'll know that I'm not.

I'll use all of them depending on the situation. Even pseudo manual (Manual with auto iso) sometimes.

I love auto ISO. Its like a tripod with one leg that adjust to level what ever else you have selected.

If I'm using flash, as I usually do for that sort of work then it's nearly always manual. Possibly a bit of av with ettl flash for run and gun work.

Manual in stable light conditions and auto ISO in rapidly changing light or when the subject is moving in and out of shadows quickly.

Manual with auto ISO, since noise is the least of my concerns.

When I am shooting XC/T&F events, it is usually with TV to control shutter speed. I will sometimes go manual with auto ISO if I also want to maintain a certain DOF

Totally dependent on the situation. Whenever possible I prefer to shoot in manual mode as I am a bit of a control freak. :) However, not all situations are suited to M so I use the others as necessary. I really have no preferred setting.

Not sure why, but call me JJ.
