Feb 02, 2021 16:46 | #35 So I have been considering the R6 but feel like I might miss the reach from the crop body 7DII. So if I were to get a 1.4 III TC, would it work with the EF-RF adapter and my Canon 100-400 II and Tamron 70-200 G2?

Yes for sure on the 100-400II as I have on my r5, and can't think of why not on the Tamron. Dave

This worked with both Canon and Sigma zooms. A Canon rep told me the R5 will also autofocus with the 2X extender/EF-mount zooms/Canon EF-RF adapter. FS: Canon G1X Version 1 with B+W filters

You need reports or experience with specific combinations to be sure, and they must be using the same lens firmware as you will be using, too, to guarantee compatibility.

I've never had a reason to try. As mentioned, it definitely works with the 100-400mm on R5/6 with EF adapter. GEAR LIST

I would not likely be purchasing any RF lenses right away and would want to use my existing glass if I go with a new R body. Thanks.

I can attest to the fact that your plan to use EF works just fine indeed. I'm using all EF lenses on my R5, and likewise did with the R. I bought one RF so far, the 24-240mm to give me an FF option that would equal the range and flexibility of the EF-S 18-135mm. It's rarely on the camera, so it's mostly all EF glass. GEAR LIST

FlyingPete I am immune More info | Feb 04, 2021 02:47 | #43 I have an R6 with a EF 2x Mk3, EF70-200 f/2.8 and EF100-400 f/4.5-5.6 (all Canon), and both lenses work fine on the TC with the RF-EF converter, in fact (and probably predictably) better than on my old EF based body. Peter Lowden.

Aug 17, 2021 19:46 | #45 So I tried stacking an EF 2X III and an EF 1.4X III with an EF 12 II extension tube between them. The front of the 1.4 was extremely tight going into the rear of the extension tube, I had to force it. When I disconnected, a plastic piece came out. Now they go together and work just fine and I'm wondering if this little piece of plastic with a too small hole in the middle is even necessary.
