The 5DIV improves on every aspect of the 5DII especially in IQ. You will not be disappointed. However, that said, the new R series looks every bit as good as the 5DIV and better in some areas. The Canon R looks to be a mirrorless version of the 5DIV and the new R5 looks like the the mirrorless version of what the 5DV would have looked like. If I were to update now, I think I would go with the R5. I haven't shot with one but it looks to be the better camera. Not sure why, but call me JJ.
