Is anyone else getting this error "due to change in android OS specifications, from version 2.7.0 of camera connect, wi-fi connection using NFC is no longer available. please use another connection method." when trying to connect to their 80D using the Camera Connect App? Is there another way to connect my phone and my 80D? Thank you.

Can't you do like what you do with cameras not supporting NFC?

Pardon my ignorance I went from a 30D to a 80D which is like going from a biplane to a fighter jet. With the 30D I could only use a card reader or hook a cable between the camera and CPU.

Ah, that wasn't easy to know in advance.
Can't you connect directly with WiFi, not using NFC, like with cameras supporting the Camera connect app, but lacking NFC? Like I do with my EOS-1DX Mark II?

Review the document at https://canoncanada.custhelp.com …tphone-via-nfc-connection (external link). Take note especially of the various requirements concerning the Android revision level which must be 4.0 or later. You might also verify that your 80D has the latest firmware (10.3) although the various revisions don't seem to specifically address your issue.

You can connect using the wifi connection
Make sure to 1st disconnect your phone from the general/home/office wifi
Then turn on the wifi on the camera and connect then open the canon app
It works well for me
