Cone Nebula / Christmas Tree Cluster

2,600 light years away, the Cone Nebula (and Christmas Tree Cluster) decorates the Monoceros constellation. A great target this time of year.

For this image I used 295 images, a little over 24 hours total exposure time. An ASI1600mm pro was attached to a Canon 500mm f/4 using an Astromechanics lens focuser.

That's a lot of data .. and it shows in the detail.

I'm also impressed that you have no coma (that I can see) with a telephoto. All my efforts with a 70-200L 2.8 have shown noticeable coma at the edges.

Thanks! I think the lack of coma is due to the Astromechanics lens focuser. In addition to focus, I can stop down the lens a few stops while attached to the ASI camera.
