A great idea really. Well done.
I wish I could take credit for the idea. My second cousin did something similar last year.
Thanks!

Were these planted for timber production? What's their use now? I'd imagine they're only pups in size compared to mature specimens. Hi there avondale87. Here is a very brief history of the redwoods - but of course no words can describe their beauty

avondale87 thanks for whoever started this More info | Jul 26, 2021 22:02 | #1238 DougZ wrote in post #19264635 Hi Hi there avondale87. Here is a very brief history of the redwoods - but of course no words can describe their beauty ![]() The forest was originally set up for commercial production around 1898 The first Californian Coast Redwoods were planted in 1901 The redwood grove was declared a memorial for NZ Forest Service members who died in World War I The redwood forest was opened to the public in 1970 for recreation. In 1993 bike trails were built. In 2009, the land on which the Whakarewarewa Forest and Tokorangi Forest (Redwoods) sits returned to Maori ownership in July as part of the Treaty of Waitangi Claims. The trees are around 75metres tall today & the forest is around 5600 hectares Many thanks for details. A fitting memorial.
