Thanks oddly enough they're raised ridges of salt. Probably created from evaporation maybe?

Beautiful village of Saksun on Streymoy in the Faroe Islands. These old turf houses looked magnificent and I appreciated the sun peeking out for a change to give them some lovely light. Surrounding landscape was not too bad either!

Interesting. I looked up how long Redwoods live, seems like the average is 500 to 800 years, but some trees can get to 1500 years, a few even hit 2000 years. So that would mean they still have hundreds of years to grow. Someone must have figured out that the climate would allow them to thrive in a place that's on the opposite side of the world from where they evolved. Seems like there would be quite a few factors involved in figuring that out.

I think at least part of it was luck - what I read suggested many different types of trees were bought in from many places around the world to see what would actually grow well here.
I watch many travel blog videos & notice that the redwoods here appear quite a bit "redder" than the Redwood National Park videos I have seen. I'm sure climate & soil conditions play a huge part in the equation too.

This round I stayed close to the car!! within about 15 seconds it went from a few rain drops to an all out firehose blasting water sideways!!!
