I currently sell landscape prints only. Small time. I currently do not have business insurance. I am expanding that and also starting to do portraits, etc.
What types of insurance will I need? Liability, sure. E&O? Something else?
Asking so when I go shopping for insurance I don't get unnecessary types of insurance pushed on me.
The insurance needs of a photographic business are not different from the needs of any small business. If you have a studio, you have the same needs as a barber or beauty salon. If you travel to locations, you have the same needs as a plumber or electrician. So if you want to get some information, you can talk to people involved in any small business for tips, or check with small business instructors at a community college or a SCORE advisor. That will give you some background.
Then you can talk to a few local independent agents (perhaps recommended by other small business owners in your area) and compare what they can do with to photography-specific insurance companies that you can contact on the Internet.
