I like the detail you can get with these big scopes... do you mind me asking what sort of $ does it cost to subscribe to/use one of these?

SLOOH currently has 2 observatories, both in very dark sky sites (there are large professional observatories at each site as well) They have 6 scopes in the Canary Islands - 20" 17" 14" 11" 85mm Televue and a 60mm solar scope and the observatory in Chile with a 17" 14" and a 90mm Takahashi. You are able to control any of the scopes.

There are two memberships for doing AP that give calibrated FITS images, Apprentice and Astronomer.
Apprentice is $100 a year and Astronomer is $300.

What is the difference?

Basically the number of concurrent imaging runs, they call them missions, that a user can set up at any one time, and the number of catalogs you can use to slew the scopes to. ALSO a big thing is you can point the scopes at ANY point in the sky using RA and DEC.

What can an APPRENTICE member do?

An APPRENTICE membership costs $100 a year. What do you get for that? You can schedule missions from the entire NGC Catalog, Messier, Caldwell and Herschel Catalogs and the SLOOH 1000 (1000 of the best sights in the sky) as well as “Coordinate Missions” you tell the scope the RA and DEC and slew (SLOOH) it to those coordinates and take an image. You also get processing schemes to control the camera where the Slooh 1000 uses generic schemes. The BIG thing is you get the raw FITS images from the cameras. You get the 1 scheduled mission (Advanced mission) and 5 piggybacks (Standard missions, which are missions scheduled by other members, and you get their data) as well as the ability to do snaps. The number of missions you can do in a month is unlimited but you can only schedule a new advanced mission when your current mission completes, but can immediately schedule a new one up to 7 days in advance.

ASTRONOMERS get all the things an Apprentice can do plus

Point any Slooh telescope at any coordinate in the night sky or select from 19 popular astronomical catalogs, including the Slooh 1000, limited to five standard and five advanced reservations at a time. Configure imaging parameters depending on the selected target, including luminance-only presets. Images can be automatically captured and saved to your account, including FITS files.

My only problem with Slooh is the website is completely horrible. I spent many minutes searching their website trying to find the info you provided above and could not figure it out. It's too bad as I think it's a great service, but their website is clearly lacking details and organization. In fact, I still have not been able to find this info on their website.
