So, this really made me think..
My client, a local semi-famous hip-hop artist, wanted some photos that were quite weird/interesting to me, yet quite popular in the hip-hop/Trap genre. He wanted photos that were made to look like they were taken with a film camera (Vintage vibe etc etc).

Has this ever happened to you? Do you find it weird/interesting in any way or is it just me? Is this really photography to you ? What are your thoughts?

PS: The pictures are saved from IG so they’re not full res. Just wanted to visualize what I mean.
Taken by me.

Whatever the client wants. If it makes him happy, then you've done your job.

From a general photographic perspective, if he could have held the pose, I would have tried to get the soles of his feet in focus in two shots and then layer them in with the main shot.

I agree with Joe on this one. Regardless of what we ourselves deem as the best shot or the theme, the customer who is asking for an image is always right. Our creative ways or technical vision do not trump the customers wishes. I do sympathize with you. I've been in similar situations as you just described.
