Hopefully this is the right place to post this, if not I apologize, please move accordingly.

My wife and I are heading up north for a few days with out the kids next week. Good or bad, the moon will be full so I don't think I will be able to work on much astro stuff. Also looks like the rise/set of the moon will not be in my favor either for coastal moon shots.

Instead I am thinking to try and find some locations that I can still shoot providing some nice coastal landscape with some stars (fighting the moon to some extent, or using it to my advantage). Honestly hoping for some broken up cloud cover to get some moody motion images.

Wondering if any here are familiar with the area and have recommendations on locations. I have never been there but I'm assuming it's similar to the Big Sur / Pacific Grove / Monterey areas (where I live) in that there is just a ton of awesome places.

Any advice is appreciated!

I will have a full bag of lenses in the truck ranging from:

14mm 1.8
35mm 1.4
105mm 1.4
24-70mm 2.8
70-200mm 2.8
150-600mm

Hopefully I find something. If nothing else it will be a great time with my wife!

Some thought provoking images at https://www.mcpgg.com/ (external link). Visit the town of Mendocion, which very much resembles an East Coast coastal village. It was in fact a place where many scenes from Murder She Wrote were filmed. See https://theoffbeatpath.net/2017/06/14/murder-she-wrote/ (external link)

Bowling Ball Beach is a popular photo spot, just be sure to check the tide charts first.

A really good book for locations is Photography California Vol. 1 - North (external link).
