Hi,
I am wondering if there is a way to find if a Canon lens is US made with the help of the available serial number?
I am buying it used without a copy of receipt.
So, wondering if there will be an issue with Canon repairs...Asking for this reason, mainly.
Thanks,
Kala
Can you provide the exact details of the lens? Focal length, f/stop, and things like “I”, “II” can be meaningful so include that info.
Two things, first of all Canon will repair any lens, receipt or no receipt, subject to its life cycle. This means that a lens I actually have, with receipt, from about 1995 is likely not repairable because Canon no longer supports the lens. And if you go to the Canon website for returning the lens, it may very well report back that. the lens is “no longer supported”. In that instance, you might be able to find an independent shop that will fix it. The Canon website to initiate a repair is https://www.usa.canon.com …ort/service-repair/repair
. You will need the serial number of the lens you plan to buy.
Secondly, a lens purchased used will not likely be covered by any Canon warranty so a receipt is of little value except to show the age of the lens.
