captured this using the 16" f/3.5 astrograph at the Insight remote observatory. 20 minute exposure 300 sec ea L,R,G,B but then processed for B&W in Photoshop.
Insight is a subscription based remote observatory. I personally like the Slooh remote observatory better as it is a yearly membership, also it takes more skill to get enough subs to create a good image. Insight seems too easy for to my mind. Still investigating it but with Slooh you control the scopes in almost real time, with Insight as with ROBOSCOPES you submit a request to the observatory and they schedule the scope and you then download the images.

but it is real nice in B&W

Amazing capture Jeff!
That’s seriously good!

One sure can’t argue with the results of using this service, even if they might not agree with imaging that way. :)

Have you checked out any of the remote scopes in New Mexico, near Mahill ?

Yes I did, most recently Insight Observatory and they give fantastic results, but you get what you pay for. IO costs $50 an hour as do most of the other remote observatories some more. SLOOH costs $300 a year. I figure that I did about 400 hours of imaging so it costs about 75 cents an hour. I will posting an M101 that I imaged over the last two years 20 nights spread over that time.

With Bortle 8 skies it is helpful, also with health issues I have trouble traveling so I am still able to to AP. It really isn't that much different from using my clubs scopes or from my friends who have wired their backyard observatories to run from inside their houses.

Most of my imaging is solar from my backyard but at night living 300 feet from a major mall I can see 5 stars on a good night.

I have been doing for about 4 years now, and only recently have been getting good results, with SLOOH you have to be willing to dump all the subs that aren't good, it took me a long time to realize that.

I tried Pixinsight but too complicated, then I was using Nebulosity 4 but didn't always get good results, now I am using the trial version of APP - Astro Pixel Processor I then finish it in Lightroom and Topaz AI Denoise.

I am going to buy APP.

Yeah, that would have been a good investment a few years back to put in a remote scope and then rent it out. Amazing how popular they are.

At my age and budget it’s mono camera and filters. lol

I use a ZWO ASI174 for solar and also lunar, it is a mono

I have a filter wheel but right now it is too cold and snowy outside to try imaging at night

Big fan of Astro Pixel Processor myself. I know better results can be obtained by PixInsight but that learning curve is like Mount Everest to me.

I tried the trial version of Pixinsight and while I got good results I feel I got better results with APP finished in LR/PS Also the learning curve on PI is steep especially for someone in his late 60's who had a stroke!
