What is the Continuous AF enable or disable on the 7DII?

For a full description see page 294 of the full user manual (available as a download from the Canon website)

With this enabled the camera will obtain approximate focus continuously, exact focus will be found once the shutter button is pressed. This only applies to live view shooting.

It's basically mirrorless mode settings from that Canon era, the same basic system that would have been in the M series at the time.
