Morning all,

I currently use my Dell laptop to edit my images.

In January, we are off to the the Bahamas for 2.5 weeks. Obviously I will be taking a reasonable amount of camera gear, but if I take the laptop, it's a beast of a machine and weighs too much to take on top of the other bits. Part of the trip, is from Nassau to Great Exuma on a proper little puddle jumper and i'm sure there will be weight restrictions.

So, there's the context. I'm looking at buying a Samsung tablet, mainly to use as a book reader and a little web surfing, but am wondering if anyone here uses one for photo editing. It will be a Samsung one?

Can you get to where you want to editing on one, do you have to do it all by finger touch, or are there little 'pens' out there that help?

Any thoughts, ideas, tips & advice very welcome

Thanks all

Ian I can only half heatedly answer.
I've a Samsung Tab S4, my 4th note tablet with an S pen.
I installed Snapseed but don't use it seriously.
However the use of the S pen is awesome IMO.
I'm not used to a stylus on Windows devices but am on Samsung.
The control is brilliant and it works very well with Snapseed.
I'm not sure how one would edit without a stylus and some generic ones I've seen are not worth buying.

I can read SD cards via a plugin SD reader which works well.

I'd recommend a Samsung note tablet any day.

As said, probably not much help in real terms.

How will you keep the power up to it? External supply for emergencies?

Hi Richard,

Thanks for that. I suppose I didn't fully explain myself. On the editing side, i'll only really need it for those 2.5 weeks as i'll use my laptop all of the other times, just need it for that time so I won't get a huge backlog of editing when I get back. I love getting the editing done asap.

That said, if this works, with the tablet, then it might end up being my go-to place for editing, but whilst away it can be used for this, surfing an reading, so a good reason to invest in one

Ian I thought, assumed that's your intent. Not long term use.
I couldn't see myself using one long term despite my lauding how good it is.
That said with concerted use I might change my mind. :-)

Forgot to say mine interfaces nicely with a Samsung 4k monitor.

Managed to pick up an immaculate one, second hand, for half the price of a new one, so very happy with that

Cheers again for the advice
