(mods - I looked for an actual monitor / hardware forum and could not find one)
I have a monitor that is going bad and needs to be replaced.
I always buy IPS panels, and always color profile them.
It's been a while since I purchased a monitor.
I see they are all now marketed with stuff like Eye Care, Bye-Bye Blues, and so forth which makes it sound like they are color-shifted to be easy on the eyes.
Will any of the color-shift gizmo stuff cause problems with calibration / profiling?
Some monitors will allow you to turn these "features" off. Probably depends on how much you pay...more buttons to push, more dollars.
I've been looking for. new monitor, and I actually don't recall seeing many of that set of features on mid to up-scale photography monitors. They tend to talk about how large a percentage of the sRGB/AdobeRGB, etc color spaces they cover.
Asus's ProArt Display PA278QV monitor certainly isn't the sexiest looking display thanks to its utilitarian design, but its beauty is on the inside. The 27-inch display doesn't just use IPS screen tech, it's also capable of displaying 100% of the sRGB and 100% Rec. 709 color spaces. What's more, a Delta-E color accuracy of less than 2 - along with factory color calibration - ensures color is spot-on, right out of the box. Elsewhere, you get a versatile spread of connections - HDMI, DisplayPort, and DVI - and the panel sits on an ergonomically-designed stands with full tilt, swivel, pivot, and height adjustment.
This is under $300 in at Amazon.
