Serena is a 40-pound Great Pyrenees puppy who will eventually take over from our aging goldendoodle to keep our small dogs (we do rescue work) safe in our fenced in one-acre yard. Even though we have a chain link fence surrounding our property, we need a large dog to keep them safe from hungry coyotes who can scale a six foot fence easily. We expect that Serena will reach 90-100 pounds at adulthood. Any coyote in its right mind will think twice about climbing a fence into a yard guarded by a Great Pyrenees and if we encounter a coyote not in its right mind, Serena at full size will be quite capable of defending her flock (which is our several small rescue dogs). Although fierce and brave against predators, these large dogs are gentle giants towards the animals and people they are charged with protecting'

She's growing by the day...

Luckily - we have enough room to let her exercise...

It's absolutely amazing how fast she can transition from fully at rest to full speed running... That is one of the breed traits that makes the Great Pyrenees excellent guardian dogs...
