I have been away from Canon since Fuji began its run. I soon will be editing the Canon R6 raw files in my LR6.
Can someone give me a very brief idea of what they are using in the Develop section. I would just like a starting point to save some time. Also the sharpening selection.I will be using the R6.

Canon R6 files are not supported directly by LR6...it cannot read them in. If you have Canon R6 files, you would need to convert them to DNG files, which can then be read in even by the old LR6.

Not sure what your reference to 'Basic section' is. My LR6 has:

  • 'Library' mode which imports and exports files
  • 'Develop' mode, which allows White Balance, Exposure, Contrast, control of shadows/highlights, cropping and angle adjustment, sharpening, hue control, etc
  • 'Slideshow' mode, and several other modes that are not often used by the majority of users (I cannot recall anyone on POTN having any questions about using any of these other modes!)

Within Library mode there is a Quick Editing mode, which is a small subset of capabilities in Develop mode

Yes I am aware and use the DNG converter. It's really the Develop /Detail section and sharpening I am interested in. What choices do you use?

I use most everything (as needed) in the Basic Developing section (but not Brushes), and in Detail I use Sharpening and Noise Redution, but rarely venture into the other sections of Develop, for the typical photo. Noise Reduction usually is not used except for shots made in low light at high ISO.
Many of the adjustments typically done to the average photo are all encapsulated in a Preset applied during Import, to save time with repetitive functions used across most photos.
