I would not worry unnecessarily about which brands...I have found dead cells in every brand that have been in use for a number of years.
Some brands have apparently fuller capacity, and reports exist which depict those with measured capacity (not merely stated capacity).

Mainly use Eneloop/Eneloop Pro but have some Panasonic too. I haven't done tests to determine which are best but no complaints with either brand.

It just so happens that the most comprehensive and enduring test of rechargeable AA batteries was done by a forum member here;

part two;
https://photography-on-the.net …/showthread.php?t=1477069

Eneloop Pros are some of the best choices. Powerex non Eneloops also fantastic options.

I just pulled out some Pocket Wizards for the first time in years, and thus for the first time in years I needed AA in a camera accessory. I reached for the Powerex AA. older unit than the ones in SYS' second test, which had been sitting in a case for at least three years, and they still had 75% charge. Topped them off and shot all day with them.

that said, based on part two of that test I also have a number of sets of the Fujitsu branded eneloops which came up on sale at one point, and they are fantastic.
