Speaking of old military pictures, in 1938 the Army decided to move the entire horse drawn artillery from Ft Sam Houston in Austin, TX to Ft Sill, OK. This is them leaving Ft Sam Houston. You can see how many horses and equipment are involved. They were on the march for two weeks. So what makes this photo special? The guy on the second horse is my father.

yes.

North American Aviation "Mustang" P-51D (it has the bubble canopy)

Lockheed "Lighting" P-38

the P-38 was used by Richard Bong to become America's highest scoring Ace with 40 confirmed Japanese planes.

What an exciting thread this is Pigpen! I am pretty sure the green car in this photo is a 1963 Chevy Impala.
My first car I owned out of high school WAS a 1963 Chey Impala, but mine was brown in color!

Seeing the Voltswagon reminds me when I was in Jr. High school it seems that 99% of the cars were only the Big 3, General Motors, Ford or Chrysler. I remember hearing the cost of a new VW back then was only $600.00
I do not remember knowing what one of the Big 3 cost back then.

Landed a very cool old No. 2A Brownie camera Model B. Mainly because there was a roll of film in it that I wanted!! Got it home to discover the film brand new, never exposed. Would have been cool to see if anything was on a 100+ year old camera. The roll is really cool looking none the less & will look good on the shelf next to some old cameras. The film is 116 Kodak Verichrome & the take-up spool that was in the camera is made partially of wood. Here's a shot next to a current day 120 for comparison.

I already have the face off the camera for cleaning. The photo has an optional (AB) illusion. The faceplate fits in the opening of the camera on the left. It's just much closer to the phone so it looks bigger.

I'll post the rest of the old film I found here instead of clogging the film photography thread. Not sure if this is a dog or coyote?

Also, some shot of people. Looks like outside a roadside motel. The young man on the left reminds me of a small Dean Martin.

This is an older women & looks like the young man from the other picture trying to sneak past. The last one is in the worst shape. It was at the end of roll, so probably from the back of the camera being opened.

Yes, it's cool. A few of the train "buffs" here had commented on it.

My father was a railroader working for the New York Central starting in 1935 and retiring from Penn-Central in 1975

The town I live in currently is the first "railroad town" I've lived in. Was amazed at the amount of people that embrace the NOISE! :-D We have an entire weekend every year called "Railroad Days", I've covered it many times for the paper. Also see many people with cameras hanging out near tracks & on overpasses. Many times, I tell people the town I'm from & they reference some train story, a popular one is "were you there when they brought the old steam engine through?"
