Anybody had any success reflashing the mr3040 router that is the original camranger? I no long have any use for the camranger, but would like to repurpose the router by just reflashing it with stock tp-link firmware. But having no success in accessing the router gateway to reflash firmware.

Can you elaborate on what you have done, especially your statement “no success in accessing the router gateway”. Can you connect with a PC?

The router is working as intended with camranger software and firmware updating software. However, the camranger firmware seems to lock out direct access to the router itself. 192.168.83.1 (default gateway which is the correct ip and pingable) simply returns "connection refused". Most routers have a firmware update option within the setup menu when you access the gateway. But without that access, I am at a loss as to how I can get the stock firmware back onto this router.

I have the TPlink router, although I have not restored it back to factory default. Here is a link that I believe shows the steps to return the router back to it's original form.

In the manual for the Camranger II the ip address is given as 192.168.82.1 with a password of admin, very slightly different than your 192.168.83.1. "83" vs. "82:.

Could 192.168.83.1 just be a typo on your part, or is an attempt with 192.168.82.1 worthwhile?

I tried 192.168.82.1 as well. But I think that is what they are using on the newer camrangers. Mine is the old original.

Thanks. But my problem is I can not even gain access to the router to get to that interface for updating the firmware.

Article at https://tethertools.com …an-existing-wifi-network/ (external link) may be beneficial, I emphasize "may". ;-)a

What is the IP address of the TPlink mr3040 ? I have not used mine lately, but I believe in the past I have restored it back to factory defaults. It may take me a minute to find
the documentation on how...

192.168.83.1 according to the camranger website and confirmed with ipconfig. And pingable. But when I attempt to connect it says "connection refused". Camranger support says "In theory it’s possible, but would be difficult. And obviously it isn’t anything we support or assist with."

Are you connecting wired or wireless? I would attempt to connect wired and reset the device. If I get time I will attempt to do it with my device.
The following link is what "Should" get you to the point of updating the firmware.

I am connecting wired. Have reset the device. I know how it "should" work. Not my first rodeo mucking about with firmware updates on devices. Based on the reply from camranger support I guess I will be left to brick it and restore it with a ftdi adapter or arduino myself. Thankfully a buddy has both to lend me.
