Since getting back into things, the kit lens that came with the Canon M50 is nice, but I def need more. At first, I was looking at the 24-105L but remembered a couple of older Sigma lenses that I was interested in back when I had my Canon 40d. The Sigma 17-50 and 50-150 f/2.8. The used price on them all is very good. I will mainly be doing indoor flash stuff for a friend's website (picture of products) and when I get out landscapes and really whatever else. This time around is all fun for me. Not ready to buy into dedicated EF-M lenses just yet. Wanted to keep a nice simple 2 lens main setup, because for vacations I can always rent something longer to use.

Would those older Sigma lenses still be a good choice these days? I live on a disability budget so most new glass is out of the question. Other lenses to look at? I know I could get some brand of a 24-70 and 70-200. But my price range is in the ballpark of $400-$500 per lens.

Hi,

If you're doing flash, you don't need fast focal-ratio do you?

I would look at the 10-18 STM and 18-55 STM and the 55-250 STM or the 18-135 STM maybe as a compromise for a tele. Covers everything. They're quiet, fast, sharp and really inexpensive yet great kit lenses. You could do the 10-18 and 18-135 for a two lens approach and have it all covered.

Very best,

I had the 18-55 and 18-135. I did like the 18-135 while I used it but upgraded to 24-70L and Sigma 70-200 shortly after. I used a 55-250 and something I didn't like about it. The only one I would consider is the 18-135 but would really like something faster than 5.6 at the long end.
