That's a mere 532 meters of 135 film.

My math skills are nonexistent these days... but if my calculations are right (and mostly like I'm wrong), 14k shots will only yield me a 9m43s worth of motion film at 24fps.

No wonder the silver industry's collapsed.

Still waiting for the wisdom they promised would be worth getting old for.

That sounds about right. 14000/24/60 = ~9.722 minutes. I had forgotten how close the stills frames were on the film roll. It is only 2mm; a new frame every 38mm.

My R3 doesn't "lock up", but sometimes it will take like 5-10 seconds to "wake" when I'm using my RF 70-200.

I haven't bought any RF lens so far. Use EF with adapter.
The lock-up seems to happen mainly after turning it off. Occasionally it refuses to turn back on. No error message. Have to remove/reinsert the battery to fix it.

Recently i tried some Multi-Exposures with the R3. When i came back home and imported the pictures the shots were all in RAW (as i set it up) and the result was just a JPG. I was quite disappointed because the shots weren't usable (they need some editing which isn't possible with a JPG).

With the R5 the resulting file is a RAW as well.

Did i miss something? Maybe a setting or so, or does the RAW Output work only with the mechanical shutter maybe (or whatever else)?

Thanks :)

First-World Problem - Canon EOS Webcam Utility not working with EOS R3.
< snip >
I can always fall back on the Canon EOS Webcam Utility. Tried it, but it doesn't seem to work with the EOS R3
It works fine when I plug the USB cable into the R5, but when I plug into the R3 the computer icon and battery icon blink on and off repeatedly on the LCD screen.

Not being aware of this before I tried, I found out the same thing. Didn't work with EOS Webcam Utility 1.1 and the R3. Tried it again with the 1DX Mark II, which worked before. It still does.
Searched the net and found a Webcam utility 1.2 at a Canon Asia site.
Downloaded and tried that too. Now it sort of connected, but the image is all black.
Searched more and found a Webcam Utility Pro 2.0 at Canon USA's site.
Downloaded and tried that too. The high resolution message EOS Webcam Utility not connected on the screen changed to a very low resolution version of the same text.

Reverted to the 1DX Mark II for yesterday's show. Anybody who managed to get this to work with the R3?

FWIW this page says it is supported by all of the mirrorless models including the R3: https://en.canon-cna.com/cameras/eos-webcam-utility/ (external link)

I installed it and it looked like 1.0 for Mac.

Image editing and C&C always OK

Yes, they say it's compatible, but it's not. It doesn't work.

I'll have to try this again. I haven't had to use my R3 as a webcam in a while, and usually only tether once a year when shooting the Emerald Cup (which won't be until the end of April).

Multiple exposures with R3 are JPEG only.

This is a known and very frustrating issue with the R3. It really makes no sense at all.
They removed the 30-minute video record limit for the first time on DSLR/mirrorless bodies, but also crippled the multiple exposure feature that we enjoyed on previous Canon bodies by not allowing the R3 to make raw images from multiple exposures.

It's another item on my ever-growing Canon wish list for features. It seems Canon could easily address this in a firmware update.

I do multiple exposures so rarely that I hadn't even noticed this.

Thank you very much.. very annoying indeed...

For me it is a feature i need and use on a regular basis. But.. not as a JPG File.

I did some more digging on this. You can shoot multi exposures with every lens on the R3 (and R6 Mark II as well), which wasn't possible before. There is no RAW Output possible, just as a JPG.
With the R5 and R6 this is only possible with certain lenses.. but as a RAW.

I'd love to have a toggle here. I can live with the multi exposures limited to certain lenses, but i need them as a RAW.

I checked your gallery to try to find out what kind of images you're talking about, but can't see any that looks like multiple exposures.
Do you mind sharing what kind of pictures you're talking about? The few multi exposures I've done have been such experiments that they could just as well have come out as jpegs.
