Was this post delayed 22 days for some reason?
If not, it appears Canon rushed this release a little.

To me that looks like an EF 500mm f/4 II with an adapter on it.

Notice the distance scale on top of the lens... The RF 400mm f/2.8 and RF 600mm f/4 don't have a distance scale. The distance is displayed in the camera instead.

The new RF 400mm and 600mm don't have the silver metal lens label mounted on top either, like the EF lenses do. Instead they just have "Canon" and the focal length painted on in large, bold numbers.

Also, it looks like the rubber weather seal on the bayonet mount is squeezing out from the adapter. I doubt Canon would put out a lens like that.

If that's an adapted EF lens, to me the adapter doesn't look silver in this photo. It looks more like it's color matched to the lens: Canon "off white". No one makes an adapter any color other than black that I know of, but maybe the owner painted the adapter or put some sort of cover on it?

Besides, I doubt LensCoats are being made for prototype lenses.

But, who knows... Maybe Canon has disguised a prototype they're testing. And the two just-announced RF super telephotos certainly appear to just be slight updates of the EF versions, with subtle differences and the "permanent silver adapter".

Silver gaf tape.
This is the ef mkii with an rf converter and silver tape ߘ

So in essence, it's exactly like the two that Canon announced...

I was too lazy to take off the lens coat, and wasn't really trying to fool anyone, just make a joke. ߙ

And also you can read where it says it on the nameplate.
