There seems to be a lot of press lately about how the availability and cost of storage media is affecting computer deliveries and peripherals.
Just so people are aware Best Buy right now is offering an abundance of refurbished storage option that might be of interest. As an example a Samsung Refurbished T7 1TB External USB 3.2 Gen 2 Portable Solid State Drive with Hardware Encryption - Titan Gray can be had for $135 (shipped). The T7 has the fingerprint pad for security. It can deliver read/write speeds of up to 1,050/1,000 MB/s. The T5 version which doesn't have the fingerprint pad and has slower read/write speeds, is $117 for 1 TB.
As to any concerns about being refurbished, I have purchased five of the refurbished T5 drives over the last 2 years and all have been pleased with all of them. In all cases Crystal Disk info reported less than about 5 hours of prior use. I'm told by a neighbor, a regional Best Buy manager, that these drives are used a few times to back up computers brought in for repair. Once the Geek Squad completes the repair, the drives are wiped and sold as refurbished. In the instance of the drives I've purchased, all were registered on the Samsung website and I received indications of a full warranty.
