Looking for info on this location. Going to be up that way in June. In ebird looks like a good spot but there is no info out there about it i can find. Assume its dirt/gravel road. Need 4x4? Any particular areas to bird?

Randy

I am not personally familiar with the area, but have a little more info that may help those trying to figure out where this is.

It is in North Dakota, about 10 miles north of the town of Tappen, which lies right on Interstate 94, roughly 30 miles east of Bismark.

Here is a link to this "hotspot" on ebird:

Randy, are there any species in particular that you are going to want to find?

Seems to be a good location for Baird sparrow and chestnut collared longspur. Along with other sparrows. There are other spots that I will be visiting with opportunities for both of those birds so I may not even have to go out there. Also stopping at a couple spots on way up in South Dakota that those are possible. Gray partridge and sharp tailed grouse target too. But figuring will just have to be lucky on those

Sharp-tailed Grouse should be real easy to see from the road in SD. . Same with Greater Prairie Chickens. . Lots of leks and birds hanging out along the roads in that Fort Pierre Grassland area.

Gray Partridge, a.k.a. Hungarian Partridge, shouldn't be too hard to find from the road in agricultural areas. . They prefer "disturbed" landscapes that have been altered by man, such as crop fields ..... probably 'cause they're not native to this continent.
