Versatility can be a good thing just as having a style can be a good thing in photography. That's a more moderate statement than some I've seen, which just about praise photographers for "advancing" to the stage of finding a formula and exercising it consistently. Thanks for meeting me halfway. airfrogusmc wrote in post #19485290 If you look at many art forms you see many of the greats had a style. How they were able to put some of themselves in their art. . . . It's about not following others but finding ones own path. Okay. What I have misgivings about is that a path too often walked becomes a rut. PRONOUN ADVISORY: OhLook is a she. | Comments welcome

Thanks for meeting me halfway. Okay. What I have misgivings about is that a path too often walked becomes a rut. I would never say any of the artists that I mentioned overall work as a product of being in a rut. Though like all creatives that happens form time to time. Again its about photographing anything and there is still a look that identifies the creator. That is not about the always photographing the same thing but about no matter what one creates there is still a piece of the creator in that piece. A visual signature when taking about photographs, painting or other visual art.

From my experience it is an exciting place to be.
